I decided since I was going to be at Thorpe Park and they had availability I would book myself a climb of The Swarm, which is something that I have always wanted to do, so since the weather was forecast to be nice, let’s do it!

Not long after booking, the VIP Team then provided further confirmation of the climb and advised due to a buy out event the climb would be taking place around 8pm, but as an apology after 7pm until the climb we would get ERT (exclusive ride time) of Flying Fish and The Swarm and they would meet me at Victory Plaza just before 7!

As part of the climb I would also be getting a lanyard and pin badge aswell!

Now the day of the climb has arrived, the park shut at 6pm and I waited in the ‘Victory Plaza’ until the VIP Team came to meet us just before 7pm.

At this time, we were walked over to The Swarm with our wristbands that gave us access to the rides due to a buy-out that was on, rather than waiting for 2 hours doing nothing.

This was very good, as I managed 11 rides in total without even getting off, although, I must admit I did feel it in my stomach after so many rides and wouldn’t last much longer.

When it came to just after 8pm, we were then kitted up for the climb and shown the operator console which sadly we couldn’t take any pictures of but it was nice to see the view from the cabin into the station!

After this, we were then in our two groups of 3, taken up The Swarm and I must admit you got very impressive views of the area especially Hyperia and not only that as the weather was great, we got great views over towards London aswell!

We were given a good amount of time to take pictures and video’s at the top of The Swarm which was also great before having the climb back down.

The VIP Team done a great job at putting you at ease along with answering any questions that you had aswell, which was even better.

I fully recommend doing the climb, and already planning to hopefully climb Colossus next!
