When I grew up as a child I lived in Scotland, and had a few trips “back in the day” visiting M&D’s which is now, Scotland’s only permanent Theme Park. We did use to have another one and I will be doing a further look back at that one in the near future, so keep an eye out on the website!
The main times that I visited M&D’s was while I was at high school when we had our end-of-year trips.
The main ride at M&D’s at the time was their rollercoaster ‘Tsunami’.
Sadly, the rollercoaster has been removed from the park and in fact, it was involved in an accident back in June 2016 where there was a derailment. M&D’s was fined £65,000 as a result of health & safety breaches.
The theme park used to have a number of other attractions as well, however, a lot of these have since been removed from the park leaving only 2 rollercoasters operating.
Back in March 2020, M&D’s had suddenly and unexpectedly closed it’s doors, sending their staff home as they entered administration, and then in June 2020 announced they would re-open after being saved.
I do have memories of going to M&D’s as a child, going on Tsunami and other rides including dodgems and the big wheel they had at the time.
